Kandla Furniture Park, A Dream Project Looking For Stakeholders, Bidder



The central government conceptualized a new possibility where Port could be instrumental in helping an industrial cluster to grow. The firstof- its-kind project ‘Smart Industrial Port City’ (SIPC) was announced last year at Deen Dayal Port Trust also known as Kandla Port Trust. SIPC at Kandla Port is planned to spread over 1430 acre land, where 850 acre has been reserved for industries and 580 acre for township supporting the industrial sector. A specifically planned Furniture Park is also proposed that is to be laid in 100 acres of 850 acre for industrial zone. Apart from furniture other industries that are aimed to be suitable for the rest of the land area is engineering based industries, Salt based and edible oil related industries.

FIPPI Seeks Not To Make Bis Certification Compulsory For Melamine And Phenol



Federation of Indian Plywood and Panel Industry (FIPPI) has requested to the ministry of chemical & fertilizers for immediate intervention to ensure due process of law is followed and decisions are not taken haste while applying Compulsory BIS Registration Scheme in respect of Melamine BIS 15623:2005 and Phenol BIS 538:2000. The representation was made by Shri Sajjan Bhajanka President of FIPPI - an apex body representing several manufacturers spread across the country and engaged in manufacturing of Plywood, Doors, MDF Board, Particle Board and Decorative Laminates, etc.

After Poplar, Eucalyptus Timber Price Also Rise



Eucalyptus emerged as a rescue raw material since a year for plywood industries. It played as cushion for manufacturers but now it is also catching up with the poplar prices. Increasing prices of Eucalyptus in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh is a cause of concern for manufacturers due to rise in product cost. Industry is of the view that prices of Eucalyptus logs have increased by 20% in last 2 months. The Bareilly based manufacturing clusters are getting eucalyptus prices higher by 30 percent compared to prices 6 months ago.

Visaka To Increase The Capacity Of ‘Fibre Cement Board’, Set Up A New Line In Tamil Nadu



Visaka Industries Ltd, a diversified company manufacturing sustainable products for the construction and textile industries, has announced the expansion of its Vnext division with a new plant in Tamil Nadu. It plans to increase its capacity from 1, 70, 000 tonnes to 2, 20, 000 tonnes, by investing Rs. 100 crore in the new plant. The investment will be funded through internal accruals.
