Labour Shortage Starts Affecting Plyboard Production In Punjab

A Contractor from Hoshiarpur spoke to the Ply Reporter correspondent 'the labour shortage will be visible only after April and May month because the migrant workforce would rush to their home place to cast their votes.

Greenlam Revenue Grew In FY 2018-19



Greenlam Industries has declared its Standalone & Consolidated Financial Result for the quarter and year ended on 31 March 2019. According to the company's financial results, Greenlam's total income (consolidated) in the financial year 2018 - 19 increased by approx 11 percent to Rs. 1280 crores as compared to the previous year at Rs. 1155 crores. For the fourth quarter, revenue of company's also increased by more than 12 percent to Rs. 360 crores.

Okoume Face Veneer Manufacturers At Gabon Cut Production By 30%



Gabon SEZ based Face Veneer manufacturers have collectively decided to slowdown their production by 30% for a month to halt the reducing prices of Okoume veneer in Indian market. A meeting of GSEZ Wood and Veneer Association held in Gabon on 22nd June, 2019, which was attended by majority of the Veneer manufacturers and their representatives to discuss the situation due to free fall of prices.

FAO Urges Nations Across The World To Support Agroforestry



More robust policy support is needed to reap the benefits of growing trees near crops and livestock, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation said at an agro-forestry summit in France on May 25, 2019. “Agroforestry isn’t a ‘no man’s land’ between forestry and agriculture and should receive specific policy support,” FAO Deputy Director General for Climate and Natural Resources, Maria Helena Semedo said in an opening address to the 4th World Agroforestry Congress.

FII India Generated Interest For LWF Housing With Large Area For Living And Dining Solutions


The first North American - style home constructed using the light wood frame (LWF) method is now a part of the creative initiatives of Forestry Innovation Consulting - India (FII) to spread awareness and education about Canadian Wood and its species in the country. The interest it has generated also prompted FII India to build a 2, 000 - square - foot house comprising a large living and dining area, two bedrooms, bathroom and outdoor decking, which was displayed at the exhibition at FII India had a stall display measuring 250 sq.m. under the Canada Government pavilion. A Light Wood Frame (LWF) house structure covering 200 sq m was the main highlight of the FII India booth with the balance 50 sq.m allotted to the participating 05 B.C. Lumber companies for kiosks.

Gabon Timber Started Production Of Face Veneer At Its Unit In Gabon



Malchand & Sons Group, a leading producer of wood panels and plywood in India, has entered into face veneer manufacturing in Gabon and started its commercial production there. The plant has been set up in NKOK, SEZ spread in over 3 hectares of land. The production unit has installed capacity of 120 cubic meters per day. The Gabon operation of the company under Gabon Timber Industry ZERP, has achieved 50 percent capacity within a month of start of production. Initially, they have installed 3 peeling lines with dryers and other machineries but they have built an Infrastructure capacity in a way that they can handle input of 200 CBM per day and can supply 3 containers per day to India Market.
