यूपी प्लाइवुड उद्योगः नए लाइसेंस पर बनी रही अनिश्चितता




उत्तर प्रदेश में लकड़ी आधारित उद्योग के लिए 12 दिसंबर 2018 को, यूपी वन विभाग ने ई-लॉटरी के माध्यम से नए लाइसेंस जारी करने की घोषणा की। अधिसूचना के अनुसार, यूपी सरकार ने राज्य में लकड़ी आधारित उद्योगों के लिए कुल 815 लाइसेंस जारी करने की घोषणा की थी, जिसमें 90 - विनियर पीलिंग, 76 - विनियर प्रेस, 5 - पार्टिकल बोर्ड और 8 - एमडीएफ और पार्टिकल बोर्ड शामिल हैं।

India Initiates A Probe On Exports Subsidisation On MDF




India has initiated a probe into alleged exports subsidisation by Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam on fiberboards, which is impacting the domestic industry, according to a notification. The commerce ministry's investigation arm Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has started the probe to examine whether the subsidy programs of these five countries for exports of fireboards are impacting the domestic industry.

Demand And Sentiments Improve, Market Smiles



After a slowdown patch of 3-4 months, the demand for wood panel and surface décor products is noted to have improved in September and October months. The market sources say that the demand and sentiment were drastically affected from April to August 2019 and lifting of materials were reported to drop below 50 percent. High Moisture Content Pushes Timber Costs Up




Due to slower demand of plywood, the timber consumption has dropped in North India, which is helping in marginal improvement of supply but the high moisture content in timber has strengthened the prices of timber cost by almost 10 to 15%. Manufacturers say that the timber supply has improved, and the rates are also in comfort zone but the weight of timber has gone up, hence their final costs have increased. It is noted that Poplar prices are hovering around Rs.800 to 1000 per quintal, while Safeda prices are rolling at approx Rs.600 to 700 per quintal in northern India.

Punjab Govt To Conduct A Survey On Availability Of Eucalyptus & Poplar Trees In The State



The softening of the law for opening up new plywood manufacturing units in Punjab was strongly opposed by the industry players specially plywood manufacturers. Last month the government had proposed to de-license the plywood manufacturing industry. Existing manufacturers were worried about short supply due to shortage of timber to their existing units due to the coming up of wood based manufacturing units and clusters after the new rules.

New Wood Based Industries Licences In UP In Catch 22 Situation


National Green Tribunal (NGT) has fixed the next hearing on 23rd October on petition to challenging the process of the granting provisional licences for establishment about 1350 new plywood and wood based industries in Uttar Pradesh. A four-member bench headed by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, hearing the matter on 1st October, has directed all parties, including the UP government, to maintain the status quo until the next hearing of 23rd October, 2019.

Govt. Again Asked On Saw Mill Licences In Pune And Kolhapur



The government sought a report from PCCF (Principal Chief Conservator of Forest) Mr UK Agarwal sending a letter second time in two months on the issuance of licences to 50 saw mills by the state-level committee (SLC) as he heads the committee also. The letter also states that SLC’s decision is contradictory to Rule 53 (4) e of the Maharashtra Forest Rules (MFR) and the Supreme Court (SC) order in 1997. The government has also filed an affidavit in the apex court on this matter. The report has been elaborately published in TOI.

Visaka To Increase The Capacity Of ‘Fibre Cement Board’, Set Up A New Line In Tamil Nadu



Visaka Industries Ltd, a diversified company manufacturing sustainable products for the construction and textile industries, has announced the expansion of its Vnext division with a new plant in Tamil Nadu. It plans to increase its capacity from 1, 70, 000 tonnes to 2, 20, 000 tonnes, by investing Rs. 100 crore in the new plant. The investment will be funded through internal accruals.

Kandla Furniture Park, A Dream Project Looking For Stakeholders, Bidder



The central government conceptualized a new possibility where Port could be instrumental in helping an industrial cluster to grow. The firstof- its-kind project ‘Smart Industrial Port City’ (SIPC) was announced last year at Deen Dayal Port Trust also known as Kandla Port Trust. SIPC at Kandla Port is planned to spread over 1430 acre land, where 850 acre has been reserved for industries and 580 acre for township supporting the industrial sector. A specifically planned Furniture Park is also proposed that is to be laid in 100 acres of 850 acre for industrial zone. Apart from furniture other industries that are aimed to be suitable for the rest of the land area is engineering based industries, Salt based and edible oil related industries.

FIPPI Seeks Not To Make Bis Certification Compulsory For Melamine And Phenol



Federation of Indian Plywood and Panel Industry (FIPPI) has requested to the ministry of chemical & fertilizers for immediate intervention to ensure due process of law is followed and decisions are not taken haste while applying Compulsory BIS Registration Scheme in respect of Melamine BIS 15623:2005 and Phenol BIS 538:2000. The representation was made by Shri Sajjan Bhajanka President of FIPPI - an apex body representing several manufacturers spread across the country and engaged in manufacturing of Plywood, Doors, MDF Board, Particle Board and Decorative Laminates, etc.

After Poplar, Eucalyptus Timber Price Also Rise



Eucalyptus emerged as a rescue raw material since a year for plywood industries. It played as cushion for manufacturers but now it is also catching up with the poplar prices. Increasing prices of Eucalyptus in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh is a cause of concern for manufacturers due to rise in product cost. Industry is of the view that prices of Eucalyptus logs have increased by 20% in last 2 months. The Bareilly based manufacturing clusters are getting eucalyptus prices higher by 30 percent compared to prices 6 months ago.

Visaka To Increase The Capacity Of ‘Fibre Cement Board’, Set Up A New Line In Tamil Nadu



Visaka Industries Ltd, a diversified company manufacturing sustainable products for the construction and textile industries, has announced the expansion of its Vnext division with a new plant in Tamil Nadu. It plans to increase its capacity from 1, 70, 000 tonnes to 2, 20, 000 tonnes, by investing Rs. 100 crore in the new plant. The investment will be funded through internal accruals.

Toppan To Buy Décor Paper Printer Interprint



TOPPAN Printing Co., Ltd. has signed an agreement with Wrede Industrieholding GmbH & Co. KG to acquire 100 % of INTERPRINT GmbH. It is expected that the transaction will be consummated by the end of 2019 as soon as merger control proceedings have been completed. TOPPAN, headquartered in Tokyo, is committed to expanding its global market with the aim of achieving a 30% overseas sales ratio. The transaction accelerates its international expansion strategy in the décor printing market together with Decotec Printing S.A., acquired in 2017, and Toppan Interamerica Inc. “With both companies together, we are confident that we will bring outstanding value to the industry globally,” said Norio Yamanaka, Director & MEO of TOPPAN’s Environmental Design Subdivision.
