Demand And Sentiments Improve, Market Smiles



After a slowdown patch of 3-4 months, the demand for wood panel and surface décor products is noted to have improved in September and October months. The market sources say that the demand and sentiment were drastically affected from April to August 2019 and lifting of materials were reported to drop below 50 percent. The mid and small plywood segments located in Punjab, Haryana, UP were affected more due to the slowdown in demand.

Organized Wood Panel Brands Witnessed Steady Growth With Less Margin



Organised wood panel and plywood companies have witnessed a growth ranging between 6 to 12 percent across the sector during financial year 2018 - 19. Though the drop in their profit margins is an indicator of pressure in this segment. Entire bucket of Plywood, Panels, Decorative laminates or Doors producing companies and brands have expanded their network and extended their product categories to cater different buyer groups but the past Q3 result in FY 2018 - 19 and the expected results being heard is keeping a profitability pressure among organized players.

No Relief Indication in Phenol – Formalin Prices in January



Wood panel and decorative laminates industry has to bear the cost of high phenol and formaldehyde prices in a month because sources confirm that there is no relief in prices in January as well. The chemical importers indicated the prices of phenol will maintain its same price level of December last month till mid of February 2018. Importers reasoned that the inventory at Indian ports are very low, which is supposed to fill by first week of February then the prices are expected to soften although they anticipate that it will not come down below 90 levels till March.
