New Ply Wood License In UP, Successful Applicants Names Is About To Be Declared In December



The applicants, who had submitted their online applications to establish new Plywood, Veneers, MDF, Particle Boards and Saw mills units in Uttar Pradesh, the name for successful applicants is about to be declared in December 2018 itself. The Chief forest conservator, UP Government, Sri M.P Singh, reveals it in an exclusive interview with The Ply Reporter. Mr Singh said, “The delay in finalizing of the name of applicants through e-lottery or draw of lot occurred due to some proceedings and paper work along with some work left at technical end.” It is expected that the name of successful candidates will be announced by second week of December or before.

Payment Recovery, A Nightmare At Present Across The Industries



Extremely slow payment recovery is the biggest negative at present that unorganized wood panel industry is going through reports Ply Reporter correspondents from the market. Payment recovery and collection has become a challenge, and it is already exceeding 90 days as an average credit limit for at least half of the trade. The hands to mouth companies are choking and are unable to run their business thus loosing the supply chain.

Insurance Scheme For Furniture Manufacturers And Merchants In Kerala



Furniture industry was badly hit by the unprecedented flood in Kerala state two months before. This natural calamity has made the industry people to make an arrangement or its revival and safeguard in the future from any type of such happenings. Coming forward to find out solution to the cause Furniture Manufacturers and Merchants Association (FuMMA) has launched insurance scheme for furniture manufacturers and merchants in the state ‘FREE OF COST’ offering them cover from natural calamities, burning, theft and any type of such happenings. The association came into existence in the year 2012 and currently have nearly 3500 members.

Sawn Timber Import Posts 44 % Growth In FY 2018



Sawn timber imports witnessed a big boost in FY 2018 after having marginal drop last year. The data revealed by the reports from DGCI&S indicates that import of sawn timber has increased by Rs 800 crore (44% growth) reaching to Rs 2615.14 crore in 2017-18 from Rs 1805.54 crore last year. It is noted that rising trend in sawn timber import is continuous phenomenon for India market since 2014-15, and the import value has almost doubled.

Costly Dollar Push Imported Decorative Surface Cost Upward




Strong Dollar against Rupee is directly affecting the prices of all kinds of imported decorative highlighters panels. The reports from western markets reveal that the importers are looking at an opportunity for increasing the price by an approximate 10 % higher cost, thus causing cascading effect on prices of these imported interior decor panels immediately. The importers are analyzing the affect of high dollar prices on materials like PVC sheets, WPC boards, Charcol panels, Wall paper, Floorings, and have already passed on around 7 to 8 percent of the price rise.

Greenply Plans To Scale Up Capacity With Additional Investment Of 4 Mn Euros At Its Gabon Unit



The company said it targets to hit a capacity utilization of 55 per cent by 2018-19 and scale up to 100 per cent by 2020-21. Greenply Industries is investing four million euros to scale up the manufacturing capacity at Gabonese Republic (Gabon) in West Africa.

The Gabon veneer manufacturing facility, which was set up with an initial investment of 11 million euros and has a annual processing capacity of 96000 cubic meters (cbm) of Okoume timber, will get the fresh infusion to scale up its processing capacity from 3,000 cbm per month to 8,000 cbm by March 2019, a company release stated. The facility, located at the NKOK Special Economic Zone, manufactures Okoume face veneers with thickness ranging from 0.2mm and upwards.
