Phenol Shortage Made Industries Put On Complete Halt



Phenol, also known as carbolic acid, is a white crystalline solid, which has been historically produced through the oxidation of methyl-ethylbenzene, commonly called cymene, which is made from benzene. Starting with benzene and propane, the whole process includes three steps, with the only other major product being 2-propanone or acetone. Derivatives of phenol include phenol-resins, Bisphenol-A (BPA), Caprolactam, adipic acid.

Rising Formalin Prices Increases Plywood Cost



Rupee has tumbled down to all time low against dollar, which has pushed up the rates of entire range of imported materials. Formaldehyde prices reported to up more than 10%, has fuelled the input cost of entire plywood manufacturing, which has been reeling under pressure due to high timber prices and weak demand. Industry says that their cost of manufacturing has gone up due high prices of all imported raw materials such as Formalin, Phenol, Melamine and Face Veneer.
