Coming to this prominent position in just 3 years is not marvelous. Much work, sweat & brainstorming had gone into building a foundation of WADe, but the most essential thing is the sheer focus to spread & recognize women-led development in Asia. Punjab based Golden Plywood to start ‘Recon Veneers’ production in April



Ludhiana, Punjab based Golden Plywood Group is setting up ‘Recon Veneers’ manufacturing unit here, which will start their commercial production in next 30 days. This will be the India’s second ‘Recon Veneers’ manufacturing unit, having modern technology equipped with imported slicer. Speaking with The Ply Reporter, Director of the company Mr. Sandip Singh alias Sardar Lucky Singh said, ‘Our Recon veneers commercial production will start in April, which will cater to the demand of commercial face veneers for plywood manufacturing.” He further added that Recon Veneer is successfully accepted in film faced shuttering plywood manufacturing since last two years and its demand is growing in economical grade plywood also. Hence we see the bright future of Recon Veneer demand in India, which is eco-friendly because it is being produced with local plantation timber, which is sustainably available in Punjab.

Kerala Plywood Industry Hit Hard Due to Flood, Loss Crosses Rs 350 Cr




The rain and flood has badly affected the plywood manufacturing in Kerala. The Perumbavoor region is the worst hit area with respect to industrial damage. The destruction caused by flood and rain has hit the plywood factories and its productivity in Kerala. The loss to plywood industry alone is anticipated in tune of more than Rs. 350 crore. According to Mr. M.M Mujeeb Rahman, President of Sawmill Owners & Plywood Manufacturers Association (SOPMA), the industry has never seen such a massive setback since inception. Talking to The Ply Reporter, he said, “More than 60 plywood units have been damaged or immersed in water fully or partially. Each unit is having an approximate loss worth Rs. 60 lakh to 2 crore due to the dreadful rain and flash flood.

Okoume Face Supply on Halt, Face Producers in Tight Spot



Gabon, the country famous for supplying Okoumé face veneer to Indian plywood mills, is reportedly facing many hiccups related to logistics and transport matters. ‘The Okoume timber supply at affordable price at the time of rising dollar against Indian rupee is posing tough time at present. Amidst these problems ‘high competition for selling face veneers due to weak demand within Indian plywood manufacturers’ due to continued pouring of face veneer from Indonesia, Myanmar, China and Local sourcing within India etc is presently putting Gabon based veneer manufacturers in a tight spot.

MDF Capacity Utilization Drops to 40%




India’s MDF market is struggling in deep with sudden rise in output on domestic level. The market is certainly not ready to consume all of the growing MDF capacity finds Ply Reporter team but physically there is supply. The manufacturing companies are now struggling with huge production capacity on the contrary staring at a dull demand scenario.

The industry reports gathered from different MDF plants indicate that the overall capacity utilization is merely 40% during last two months. The MDF producing companies are trying hard to push the sales by offering schemes on bulk order’s but they have slipped to achieve the target resulting the stocks have piled up at factories and warehouses.
